The trouble with any biography Is that it tends to be anticlimactic . Older one gets, the less interesting.
one's life becomes. This may even be true for such short lived geniuses as Mozart and Chopin but it is worse for someone like Elia Kazan who lived to 94. Furthermore, if it is an autobiography, how do you cut the boring parts of one's own life? Especially when it is over 800 pages long and you are writing when you are 78 years old?
Nevertheless, this is a great and inspiring book which may have already become a classic. It has occupied me for about a week in terribly hot weather and I'm glad I stumbled upon it.
