Can Golf save the World?

 Can Golf save the World?

It's difficult to avoid a sense of despair
while reading or hearing the news out there

of man's  daly inhumanity to man*
with no underlying  hope or  plan

for a brief restful relief
from almost daily grief

until last weekend that is
where we all  got it gratis

as two middle aged golfers came to our rescue
through  wind, rain, sand traps and  fescue

when for a weekend at least, at a golf course in Troon,
we could briefly celebrate a more joyous tune

as two marvelously skillful brothers in arms
demonstrated that  life  still had charms.
