An* Homage to Dana Gioia?
Dana Gioia, a man who is obviously far from a jerk
has always shown an immense capacity for work
The first long term employer
of the aforesaid Mr. Gioia
was General Foods
where he used
his poetic moods
(or is that Muse?)
to help Jello Jiggle
--please suppress that giggle-
by day--
a rather unusual way
to use one's Harvard MBA --
while at night in an occupation far more deep
he wrote poetry within or instead of sleep.
And nowadays he's a Prof at LA's Southern Cal
where he helps talented students gain a diploma
while he and his long time married to gal
have another home in wine country -- Sonoma.
While people like him arouse my awe and admiration --
Unfortunately, I could never begin to do as well as he
and be recognized as a premier poet and critic of our Nation
because in Florida where I live, there's a lot of humidity--
besides, I'm allergic to --and dislike --THAT much perspiration.
