Alternate (Miss) Universes

Alternate (Miss) Universes

We live in a mysterious Cosmos.

Though  hard to understand for most of us,

there may be a few physicists

able to get at its  gists and twists

and  obscure things like dark matter .

Perhaps we   may find among the latter

the  ebullient Mr. Donald Trump,

whose expertise  on Frump vs. anti- Frump

enables him to make  a tidy profit

no matter what others   make of it.

However, judging from the tumultuous scenes

neither Ms. Colombia or Miss Philippines

at that  Contest felt she was in Heaven ,

whether it has  four dimensions or eleven.

Donald Trump scores with Miss Universe disaster

It was the moment that could have broken Donald Trump’s presidential ambitions: In June, he likened immigrants to rapists, prompting Univision to ditch his beauty pageants and NBC to cut ties with him.
At Univision we see first-hand the work ethic, love for family, strong religious values and the important role Mexican immigrants and Mexican-Americans have had and will continue to have in building the future of our country,” the company said in a statement posted on its website. “We will not be airing the Miss USA pageant on July 12th or working on any other projects tied to the Trump Organization.”
Trump, of course, survived what at first seemed like a campaign-ending gaffe — and has gone on to survive many more. “Mexican gov doesn’t want me talking about terrible border situation & horrible trade deals,” he said in a defiant tweet. “Forcing Univision to get me to stop — no way!”

But rhetoric is one thing. Could Trump successful spin the loss of a business deal valued at up to $25 million into political and financial victory in a campaign that, at the time, seemed merely whimsical?
It appears so. With the disastrous Miss Universe 2015 that just unfolded in Las Vegas, Trump won without even being onstage. Even a beauty pageant, it seemed, just couldn’t run smoothly without him around.
Hours before Miss Universe, Trump was cheering it on from the sidelines. After being banished by Univision and exiled from NBC over his anti-immigrant comments, Trump bought the rights to the pageant back from NBC — then flipped it in September to the entertainment company WME-IMG in a matter of days.
“My friend, @AriEmanuel of @IMG, bought the Miss Universe pageants from me and they are on tonight on #Fox!” he wrote. “Tune in!”

Physicists Will Test Existence of Alternate Universes

Scientist running the world's biggest physics experiment — the Large Hadron Collider located in Geneva, Switzerland — will soon begin trials that will test for the presence of alternate universes existing in different dimensions of hyperspace.
Since detecting the Higgs boson, the so-called God particle, which explains how matter originally obtained mass, the collider has been shut down for two years while undergoing renovations. When it reopens, it will be able to reach energy levels higher than ever before: 13 tera electron volts (TeV). The Higgs boson was discovered at levels of 5.3 TeV.
At these high levels of energy, physicists will be able to determine if alternate universes exist in different dimensions of hyperspace, the strange area into which our universe is expanding. There are upwards of 10 dimensions in hyperspace and scientists think that our universe may be one among many. As Michio Kaku explains in a Big Think interview:
"Our universe is nothing but one bubble, but there are other bubbles. When two bubbles collide that could merge into a bigger bubble, which could be the big bang. In fact, that is what probably the big bang is or perhaps a bubble fissioned in half and split off into two bubbles. That could be the big bang. Or perhaps the universe popped into existence out of nothing. That is also a possibility."
The existence of alternate universe could explain the current incongruities that exist at our most fundamental understanding of the universe, or our universe, at least. Physicists are at a loss to explain the source of dark energy, which is propelling galaxies farther away from each other at an increasing velocity. But scientists theorize that dark energy may be spilling into our universe from parallel universes.

Steve Harvey crowns wrong Miss Universe

 December 20 at 11:00 PM
For a moment, all was right with the universe for Miss Colombia. Indeed, Ariadna Gutierrez Arevalo had just been crowned Miss Universe on national television in Las Vegas by co-host Steve Harvey — the pinnacle of any pageant contestant’s career.
Then, quickly and devastatingly, her dream died. It turned out Harvey had read the wrong name.
“Okay, folks,” said Harvey, clad in a white tuxedo with a red-and-white polka dot bow tie as Miss Colombia waved to a cheering crowd, said. “I have to apologize.”
The crowd erupted again — perhaps expecting one of Harvey’s patented slow-burn bits. But this was no joke.
“The first runner-up is Colombia,” Harvey said.
Miss Colombia looked ready to kill — as it suddenly dawned on Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, that she, the former first runner-up, had actually won the night. The incredibly awkward outcome: Miss Colombia was uncrowned, and Miss Philippines crowned.

“I will take responsibility for this,” Harvey said. “It was my mistake. It was on the card. Horrible mistake, but the right thing — I can show it to you right here. The first word is ‘Colombia.’ It is my mistake.”
Harvey — like any comedian flopping – made the best of a bad situation. Or tried to.
“Still a great night,” he said — though Miss Colombia might not have concurred. “Please don’t hold it against the ladies. Please don’t. We feel so badly. But it’s still a great night.”
A few minutes later, Harvey apologized again via social media.
“I want to apologize emphatically to Miss Philippians and Miss Columbia,” Harvey tweeted in a typo-ridden message later deleted. “This was a terribly honest human mistake and I am so regretful.”
