RE: Versification and Me

RE: Versification and Me

President Harry advised us all to stay out of the kitchen

if we couldn't stand the heat,

so there's really  no use in my  bitchin'

when  a  poem or two  nearly  spoils the meat.

A pair of  stanzas with  a couplet

--as  often expertly done by Emily--

can become a master chef's cutlet,

if, much  more often,    a humbler dish by  me.

Yet, though others may not   consider , without their lying,

my being anything like a  World's Champion   Rhymer,

I hope   it may turn out that   the mental exercise in so trying,

indefinitely postpones a meeting  with  Dr. Alois  Alzheimer.
