When Pippa Middleton released Celebrate, her 2012 book about party-planning, it was panned by critics for its “excruciatingly self-evident” tips. Here are some of its pearls of wisdom:
On catering a Christmas party: “Choose, if you can, a Christmas-themed menu. A turkey, for example, can be perfect for large gatherings."
On breakfast: “I like breakfast. A good morning meal brightens any day.”
On brunch: “A really late start warrants brunch, in lieu of lunch.”
On tea: “There is something very British about tea.”
On stargazing: “It is best in pitch darkness on a very clear night, and can be exciting even for quite young children.”
On celebrating New Year: “As the clock strikes midnight, link arms with friends and family and sing in the new year to ‘Auld Lang Syne.’ Pop corks and toast the year ahead.”
On wrapping gifts: “Place the present on the paper to gauge how much you will need
