Calvin Trillin on Chinese Food
As well as a fairly good poet, some would say
though others claim that he learned nothing at Yale
and would be a better writer having spent four years in jail.
But now he really seems to have gotten himself in a stew
with more than few
Chinese who
wish he hadn't published his latest New
Yorker verse --at least not in its current version--
but instead, should have gone to some restaurants Persian.
Though then, I suppose some Ayatollah might issue a Fatwa
criticizing the United States in addition to him and his patois
and in harsh language that bristles --
include threats of nuclear missiles?
