Why not Mano a Mano?

What's in the news today?
As usual that's a question
to which the answer might  be "oy vey",
still here's a different suggestion:

Let's go back to the days of old
long before computers and such
where knights in armor were brave and  bold
and didn't think and plan so much.

There's obviously  one who wants to be a hero,
and that's Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin.
But why can't he show he is more than a zero
without doing so much shooting?

While  perhaps even our President Obama
who somewhat  more reluctantly knocks enemies for a loop
can generate  an impressive  sense of drama
and show his prowess with less duress
by drilling basketballs through a hoop,

Even if  neither can  find common ground in  ice hockey or basketball
our world would  be much safer with no proxy bombs and missiles at all
for while today they may seem quite  a long way off in Syria – –
just one  mistake could again  breed another  great war's hysteria
