The Dentist And The Lion --> Androcles as Orthodontist?
According to USA Today
The American dentist Walter Palmer
in order to slay
Cecil the Lion
gave fifty thousand dollars away
which is apparently true,
because his using a crossbow for "fun"
has become something for him to rue
and he's now Public Enemy No. 1
in Zimbabwe.
Despite a mighty roar and mane,
it seems Cecil was quite a friendly lion--
a beast tourists and guides could rely on
with a certain degree of reverence
to prevent a Safari experience
from going down the drain.
Though nobody involved in this mess
had an objective which is at all sublime*
I think it could still be progress
if that dentist's punishment
were now made fit the crime.
He might perform extractions
or use a a suitable crown or inlay
on lions despite mighty jaw contractions
and their very limited ability to pay.
And, if in the process he endangers more than a finger
I suspect he would learn at least
in the future never again to torture and linger
around any such helpless wild beast
