Kiev's hipster revolution

Longing for peace and fun

and pausing while  on the run

 to meaningful life restore

and make love not war,

Kiev is partying now --

for the precious present anyhow--

as perhaps never before.

But there is more than a note of desperation

for  partying alone can not save their nation

from an enemy  seeking the  grandeur it has lost

by using tanks and missiles at whatever  cost

 their economy to  mangle

and  flourishing to strangle. 

Whatever  the goals   behind this madness,

it surely must  end in widespread sadness.
