What is the word for such  a mixture of two species?

Hybrid doesn't seem right

and half and half doesn't sound too bright. 

In any case the result would seem to have a precarious biological niche

as  one could deduce --

unable to  excrete  or  ever,   if able to feel such an itch,

successfully  reproduce.
