Needed: Thought + Action ?

Needed: Thought + Action ?

According to Charles Rosen (1)

In music, over cerebrating

Interferes with creating.

or, approximately in his own words:

"Ornithology is for the birds

as musicology is for"... nerds,

and merely studying how to get things  right

won't bring about a successful flight

as also was  shown by the Brothers Wright (2).

The great physician Sir William Osler(3)

put a similar thought in another way:

practicing medicine without reference to a library

"is like sailing an uncharted sea"

but being too professorial

is not sailing at all.

So what relevance does this have for today?

Surely we  need  leaders who can think as well as bray

but also  act, when needed, brave and tough:

Thinking  perhaps  too much,

 may not  be enough

to  preserve a way of life as such (4).
