The New Scrabble Dictionary: Game Weary?
goes the Latin phrase
stored somewhere in my brain as a memorandum
occasionally to amaze.
It means that to argue about taste
there is no use,
since where one may find a refuge from sterile waste,
another sees abuse.
Just last night they celebrated the end of Letterman
after thirty or so years
but I wish they had much earlier found a better man--
he bored me to tears.
Another activity in which I never cared to dabble
while seated at a table
is that strange game known as Scrabble
at which many seem able.
But now I think they've gone too far
with their new Dictionary--
which can teeth grind and senses jar
by its entries fictionary.
Some of the new words like "Lotz" and "Schizzle" sound to me "ridic"---
"cakehole" also seems a strange thing to say...when not started with an "A"
and "bezzy", too, sounds crazy.
However, I may probably not qualified as a word or game critic
since I've also never been too fond
of either Mah Jong or Mao Zedong.
