RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2015
and thus now able to smell an artfully tended flower
while the world is unraveling,
and becoming more dangerous each hour.
It's true that Robert Browning's choice wasn't May
but the month of April,
still I suspect that any earlier choice of day
might risk a chill,
even in this, our age of global warming,
with so much environmental harming
that bees often stop swarming.
So,let us count whatever blessing
may for us remain
to celebrate again
Chelsea's annual vernal floral dressing
made with such care from soil and rain.
For, having lovely blooms beneath the feet,
will certainly always beat,
acres of boring, low-maintenance, concrete.
