NOT by Elizabeth Barrett Browning
Let me count the ways.
First you prefer the nights
but I the days
which my flagging spirits keep
while you are fast asleep.
And late afternoons when I hope to rest
is when you begin to fill with zest.
And though for the present i have a moderately full purse
you never think that things could suddenly get worse
and care less that I am NOT some hedge fund hero
with resources of many more than one extra zero.
You've been to fifty countries it is true
yet I have mostly remained at home
but when all that traveling is through,
does it last longer than a simple poem?
If some claim that two can live cheaply as one.
Is that only provided one sleeps while the other has fun?
