The Hunt for Treasure Under the China Sea

Bloomberg
China is speeding up efforts to design and build a manned deep-sea platform to help it hunt for minerals in the South China Sea, one that may also serve a military purpose in the disputed waters.

Such an oceanic “space station” would be located as much as 3,000 meters (9,800 feet) below the surface, according to a recent Science Ministry presentation viewed by Bloomberg. The project was mentioned in China’s current five-year economic plan released in March and ranked number two on a list of the top 100 science and technology priorities.

The Hunt for Treasure Under the China Sea

There is immense treasure under the China Sea
which China plans to exploit by the year 2030
at which time I would possibly be
89 + 14  which adds to  103,
so I doubt that I'd have to rejoin the Navy.
Besides, China might then be ruled by the daughter of China's  President  Xi--
her   name is Xi Mingze*--
who after graduating from Harvard may be grooming  for that currently.

She's at least  equals in education the Clintons' daughter Chelsea ....
who also by then may may join her family
political dynasty
but perhaps  I'd better stop rambling on so interminably
and change  the groove of rhyming on eeeee
before I hear many a complaining plea
or wind up being hanged from a nearby tree.

Meryl' s Donald Act at the Public Gala

It's time to Brush up on Trump dear

so I'll start doing it now

and wear my hair in reddish blond clumps clear

even if I then look like a cow.

With a big belly I'll swagger

as I imitate this man so felonious

and if I only had a dagger

in Hamlet I'd kill him and not Polonius.

Meanwhile with a big tie and open jacket

i 'll satirize the political racket

and  ask you to  vote for Hillary ...or even Me?...

but please, please please.... not HE!

Ajilted bride-to-be smashed her ex-fiance’s car with a hammer after he refused to pay for the wedding dress she never had the chance to wear.
Sally Hallett, 32, had been in an on-off relationship with Stuart Sams for around a year but they split up before they were due to get married.
Hallett, of Barnstaple, Devon, claimed the pair had agreed to go 50/50 on wedding costs and demanded that Sams pay £150 towards the deposit on her wedding dress.

When he refused to pay, she was caught on CCTV in the car park of his workplace pulling a hammer out of her handbag and smashing up his car.
She has now been given a six month restraining order preventing her from contacting him after pleading guilty to criminal damage, but she claimed she had "no regrets".
Pictures show the damage caused to the vehicle after she repeatedly smashed the windscreen and bonnet before scratching the bodywork all the way around.

Heavy rains (expected) Monday

 Heavy rains (expected) Monday
Heavy rains are expected on Monday
which therefore won't be a Sun day

in any possible  case.
But if there's  much more than a  trace

of a tropical cyclone,
it could get a name of its own

either at first  or eventually.
It will begin with a C

for the simple reason
that's it's already the third storm of the young season,

and if strong enough, that name is projected to  be "Colin",
But if somewhat weaker, possibly just  "Semi-Colin"?

Well , we'll   see
but, either way, here's likely to be plenty of  misery
since Florida drivers are NOT noted for judgement or  courtesy.

Computer glitch?

Computer glitch ?

I don't mind a computer glitch--
since  I then can satisfy my retrograde itch

for paper and books
safe from online crooks

and much advertizing distraction.
Simplicity still has its attraction.

Computer Crash

When your computer crashes
Everything feels like ashes.
Mourning has its passion
Rage and defeat are the reaction.
Testing ideas to resurrect
Highlights poor computer intellect.
Geeks with equipment promise
A week of waiting, for diagnosis
And fixing, leaving you up in the air
Incommunicado, without their repair.

Some have escapes—computer, backup drive
Or network where programs are alive.
So the crash is not a total smash,
Just a nuisance, requiring some cash.

A Summer of Doom and Gloom?

A Summer of Doom and Gloom?

Everywhere we look   we seem to see
the possible threat  of World War War III.
but nobody seems to be worried sufficiently.

All are in their own mental cage
some perhaps more concerned about the minimum wage
than that we may be coming to the End Of Our Age.

As Mr. Putin threatens with a fearsome smile
his nuclear weapons are now  not only tactical
but becoming increasingly practical.

While European leaders seem disorganized and lost
and don't want to assume the cost
of finding  a way to unite
and somehow resist and fight.

Nor is there much mirth
at the other end of the earth
where that clever and deft Mr. Xi
pushes at least as menacingly.

And in the Middle,  last, but from from least, is The  East
where Religion and War make for a perpetual feast.

But enough of such pessimistic pleading!

Find a place that's cool --
perhaps near a pool --
and even if Mankind may not long survive
we  still have time to  dive

 into some absorbing Summer Reading.
