South Florida is NOT
Camelot
I've racked my brain
or what's left of it,
for something good about rain
when too long bereft of it ,
but such a dismal pain
when, as now,
it comes again and again and again.
Though for tropical plants it is a loving touch,
for all us humans, not so much.
We'd prefer to live in Camelot*, The Musical,
NOT that Lake in Wisconsin
( which I also happen not to be presently ensconced in.)
Since there it never rained a lot
for that would have annoyed Sir Lancelot ,
and could complicate and interfere
with his slipping out with Guinevere.

*A law was made a distant moon ago here:
July and August cannot be too hot.
And there's a legal limit to the snow here
In Camelot.
The winter is forbidden till December
And exits March the second on the dot.
By order, summer lingers through September
In Camelot.
Camelot! Camelot!
I know it sounds a bit bizarre,
But in Camelot, Camelot
That's how conditions are.
The rain may never fall till after sundown.
By eight, the morning fog must disappear.
In short, there's simply not
A more congenial spot
For happily-ever-aftering than here
In Camelot.
